ME & MY GIRL "This has got to be the ultimate feel good musical. Stuffed with nostalgia for a Britain that never existed, riddled with class snobbery, flaunting political incorrectness, it sends audiences home with a beatific grin on their faces. Its romantic rags to riches story is garnished with innocent comedy and catchy tunes, and peopled with colourful and instantly likeable characters - even the baddies are wicked only in the pantomime way. Barry Sanigar's direction balances sentiment with humour, with Wendy Homes providing the choreography, including the ubiquitous Lambeth Walk. The band under David Lodge, backs them all the way in a production that quickly wins audience approval. Steve Whitehouse and Gilly Giles as the ingenuous Bill and selfless Sally joyously lead an enthusiastic company that includes Sarah George as the gold digging Jackie, Craig Downton as the discarded Gerald, and Karen Marks as the formidable Duchess."
